Day 28 (Alex): Phantasm V Ravager

The final chapter in Phantasm, Ravager, just came out a few weeks ago, and the iByte team watched it together.

If you've not seen any of these films, and are a horror fan, you really should put that at the top of your list. I personally have become a fan of the series, invested in the mythology and the characters. These two elements continue to be developed in Phantasm V: Ravager.  Knowing this is Angus Scrimm's final movie made this a poignant experience.

As for this chapter, I have dueling thoughts. On one hand, I'm not sure I like the direction they went with, but on the other hand, it accomplished what the original film did in that it pushed the boundaries of storytelling and the mythology of the Phantasm universe.

Angus Scrimm and Reggie Bannister bring standout performances to this film. It's just the story that they have to work with that makes it a little weird. But that's Phantasm! And that's why I love it.

I personally enjoyed this film even though it isn't perfect, and rated it a little higher than number 4.

My overall score? 5 bits out of 8.
